What to Do… what to do

As Spring Break approaches all of us students here at the College, plane tickets are ordered and carpools are arranged. But for those not venturing off to a warm island or going skiing in the north, there are so many things to do off campus, but still relatively close to the ‘Burg. You will hear a lot of William and Mary students rave about the CW (or Colonial Williamsburg), which always provides great scenery, a whole lot of reenactments, and the weekly farmer’s market on Saturday mornings. A quick drive, or bus ride on the free (with W&M ID) Williamsburg Area Transit Bus can take you to the outlet malls, for some serious shopping! The Movie Tavern, offering discounted movie tickets for students and a meal served to you during the movie is also another great experience. New Town, a local shopping and eating area is a great place to grab a bite to eat and do some shopping (as you can probably tell, I’ve scoped out the shopping around town!)

Venturing a little further, and possibly hitching a ride with some friends, can lead to you Jamestown Beach. Getting a group of friends together is great, in which the Jamestown Beach campgrounds offers a waterfront view to your barbeque! Yorktown beach, which is also under a half-hour drive, has great little shops next to the shore and even a fantastic local ice cream parlor!

For the artsy and music-going students out there, Richmond is not too far away, and bigger venues give students the chance to go and see ‘big-name’ artists. With all there is to do on campus, the College of William and Mary brings a lot to us students right here. With the help of Alma Mater Productions (AMP), our student activities board, movies, comedians, and musical groups come to us! But when you’re looking for a change in scenery it’s nice to have so many options!
