Schoolwork at Aromas

Congratulations on being accepted to William and Mary!! This is my first blog and I am very excited to be blogging for the whole next semester. I will be blogging weekly and hopefully you will be following along!

Schoolwork at Aromas

Most people think that the only places to do homework are the library or your room. Despite the popularity of Swem Library, going there all the time starts to get old and despite the coziness of your room, taking a nap instead is always too tempting. Instead, I end up studying at the Daily Grind, William and Mary’s quintessential coffee shop. The popularity of the Grind and the high traffic of students and professors can be rather distracting.

So yesterday it was my mission to find somewhere else to study. I needed somewhere that I could get my coffee fix but also be extra cozy at the same time. So, I thought of an alternative and settled on Aromas, a petite little coffee shop/restaurant located in Merchants Square of Colonial Williamsburg. Aromas is a 2 minute walk from campus and is known for its great food and homey nature.

For the first time yesterday, I went to Aromas alone. I took my mug with me to not only save money when buying coffee but to also save the world. I found a little table in the corner, put my head phones in, checked Facebook, and got to work. The next thing I knew it was 3 hours later, I had finished all my readings and had started a paper that is due next Monday. That was my signal to stop, I had done too much work and needed to eat. When leaving I realized that Aromas is an amazing place to hide from the world and do what you need to do, without being totally alone or too far from campus.

So, if and when you come to William and Mary and you need a secret place to study, go to Aromas!
