Rainy Days and Mondays
There is nothing worse than waking up on a Monday morning, looking out the window and watching puddles collect on the sidewalk…Right? Wrong! When you have a cute pair of rain boots like 99% of the girls on this campus, you can combat the rain in style- take that Monday morning thunderstorm.
In addition to shower flip flops and that stuffed animal you’ve been sleeping with since you were 3 years old, rain boots are a necessity for college freshmen females at William & Mary. On average, it rains 49 inches per year in Williamsburg, Virginia, most of which falls in the spring and late summer. Combine that rain with walking or biking to and from classes, meals and whatever else you fill your time with here, and you’ve got yourself some wet feet, my friend.
If you hang around campus on a drizzly day, I can guarantee that you will notice rain boots of all colors, patterns and sizes (for good reason). When it rains (or snows) here, a fair amount of mud on the ground always follows and no other shoes can take the same beating that rain boots take on this campus. Before school started, I emailed my RA asking what the
number one thing I needed for college was and she told me rain boots-almost every girl on my hall keeps a pair outside of her door. So far it’s a tie for coolest ones I’ve seen so far- lime green and teal checkered were pretty awesome, as were the blue whales.
I got mine last year on clearance at J. Crew (10 dollars! Score!) but at the end of the rain boot season (end of summer aka the time most people go shopping for college stuff), they can be hard to find. Target offers a variety of styles and colors perfect for a college student budget-year round.
Affordable + FUNCTIONAL + very cute = Basically a necessity.
Now if the sound of rain on your windowsill wakes you up out of a still sleep (as happened to me this AM), the last thing you will have to fret about is squishing around in wet shoes. Instead, roll over, hit the snooze button and think about how fun it will be to go puddle jumping with friends.
