Birthday weekend

Friday: Decent birthday despite the dreary weather! At least I got to wear my new wellies. They look like Barbie shoes…I don’t really feel like a real person when I wear them. Had lunch at quiznos with freshman hallmates. Did yoga with roommate, went to the gym. Parents came over, took me to Barrett’s for dinner. Had a smoked salmon and brie salad. Really good risotto. mm. Caught up on The Office and Chuck with Jason.

Saturday: Cheese Shop for lunch with Katelyn, Ali, Jackie, and Jim. Decided to try something new: had a tuna salad (with grapes and walnuts…interesting) and edam (the heck is that?) sandwich. Yum! I don’t think it’s possible to create an undelicious sandwich at the Cheese Shop. Chilled in Jackie’s apartment for a little while, and then decided to go to Pirate Cove Adventure Golf. Best decision ever!! The minigolf course had this fake cave/mountain thing that you climb to get to the holes, waterfalls (I want to go there in a bathing suit sometime!), stories about pirates, and GIANT fish! So fun. Then, had an early dinner at Chipotle…which was way crowded! The line was out the door at 3:30. Who eats at 3:30??

Sunday: Tried to go to Isshin’s favourite sushi place in Virginia Beach, but it was closed, so we ended up going to the sushi place next door…which was okay. The udon was pretty disappointing. But, we walked around the beach for 2-3 hours, which was awesome! The water was freezing!! But that’s what makes it fun. 🙂 Thuy came over for dinner, and I hadn’t seen her in forever, so that was cool. We had the birthday carrot cake my mom made me, which was really good despite my mom’s profuse apologies that it didn’t turn out right.

Monday: I’m the test subject in research lab this week! Which means I get to sit in an altitude chamber for four hours for three days…which is what I’m doing now! It’s fun. Monday night was passover seder! Which was awesome! Good food, good friends, good ceremony, in the beautiful Miller common room. Went to the gym and studied at the same time…felt productive. Held a meeting for my summer service trip, Destination China, which only lasted about fifteen minutes. The school gave us a 2000 dollar grant, which is awesome, and we got our plane tickets! So glad it’s all coming together. 🙂
