About Anna Rapp

Background
I received my Master’s degree in American Studies as well as my German teaching degree from the University of Münster in 2008. My studies took me to Riga, Latvia, and Malvern, England, where I taught German as a second language. Also, I spent a year studying languages at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik, Iceland. Since 2008, I have been teaching English in German high schools and adult education and worked in translation. I am also currently working on my Ph.D. thesis in American Studies.

Research
My Ph.D. thesis is concerned with the reception of African American literature in the German Democratic Republic. It examines practices of translation, censorship and discourse formation in the German speaking Eastern Block during the Cold War.
