Congratulations!!!
Congratulations on your acceptance into the best school in the world! Cherish these memories, because you will look back on them fondly for the rest of your life. It’s tough for me to think about why I originally chose William & Mary because there are so many things that I have come to fall in love with this beautiful place, but thinking back I can remember why I decided to go to William & Mary.
My parents had gone to other universities in the state and up until my junior year of high school, I had never really considered going anywhere other than where they had went. A friend of mine named Mae who worked with me was a student at William & Mary and she told me I should look into visiting. Now, she was tall and beautiful and smart and loved history as much as I did and I may or may not have had a slight crush on her. So, yes, I decided to schedule a visit to William & Mary in the spring of my junior year and I was shocked. It was perfect. Walking around for the first time it felt as if King William and Queen Mary had signed that charter all those years ago just for me. It was astonishing how at home I felt right away. People I encountered seemed like old friends. The charming buildings and rough walkways already felt familiar to me. The following interactions I had with the school further confirmed how wonderful the community was at William & Mary and how perfect a fit it was for me. And while my crush on Mae faded (though it would have been a fairytale ending: William & Mae getting married in the Wren Chapel!) my love for William & Mary grew and it quickly became home.
Congratulations again and get ready for the best years of your life at the best school in the world!

I just wanted to say how much I loved this post. I have applied to transfer to William and Mary for the Fall and I really connected with this story. Both of my parents went to the same school in Virginia, except, unlike you, I chose to follow in their footsteps. My senior year of high school I took a tour at William and Mary and absolutely fell in love. I haven’t been able to shake that incredible feeling I get when on campus despite being at another college for almost 2 full semesters. I am really hoping to get the chance to become a part of the Tribe family. Thank you so much for sharing what William and Mary means to you.
You have put into words exactly how I have felt every time I step on campus. It really is like home. I have never felt more comfortable and welcome than I have at William & Mary. I am hoping it soon will become my home for the rest of my college years.
