Meet the Transfer Interns – Ali!
Hi! I’m Ali, a junior at William & Mary. I transferred fall 2014 from a large out-of-state university. When I came to campus, I instantly made connections through my transfer group as well as with various organizations. Currently on campus I am involved in an a cappella group, Greek life and I am a resident of the Hispanic House. Although the transition to a new school can be intimidating, the abundance of organizations to choose from as well as small classes helped me feel comfortable during the start of my W&M career. I am a psychology major with a kinesiology minor, and because W&M is a smaller university, I am able to get to know the faculty and other students in my department on a more personal level. During my first year at W&M, I was able to get involved in a professor’s research lab. I appreciate all of the opportunities that being part of the Tribe has given me as well as all of the amazing friends and professors that I have met along the way.
I decided to transfer because I was dissatisfied by the impersonal nature of my classes and university life at my past school, which is why I chose the small liberal arts environment at W&M. I was first drawn to W&M because the campus fosters such a strong sense of community, and because transfer students are quickly welcomed into the Tribe.
I understand the daunting nature of the transfer process, which is why I am excited to help guide others through the journey of transferring into the Tribe! Feel free to contact me with any questions and I look forward to more blogging throughout the semester!
