“If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try”
With two weeks of classes under my belt and a mild understanding of the Metro system I’m off to my internship. I’m not going to lie, after the initial intoxication of excitement that filled me as I sent off the email accepting my internship wore off, I was terrified. My brain was a tornado of panicked thoughts that not even Ben and Jerry’s could remedy. With all of the anxiety I was feeling months before I even began the internship I was sure that I would be a nervous wreck the night before my first day. I was dead wrong. My thoughts are still whirling around in my head but they’re excited thoughts, not panicked ones. I can’t stop thinking about all of the amazing opportunities this internship holds and I’m so excited to start! (I know what you’re thinking, “Wow Katie, way to be cheesier than a John Cusack movie from the 80’s,” but I promise you it’s all true.) Over the past two weeks we’ve learned so much that will aid me in my internship that I can’t help but feel excited!
I’ve had a lot of people ask me if I’m ready to start my internship. I am. New experiences are always scary! Think about Rapunzel from Tangled. When she was about to leave her tower and take her first steps toward the floating lights she was apprehensive, but it was an amazing journey which brought her valuable experiences and plenty of opportunities to step outside of her comfort zone and do great things! The original intoxication of excitement has once again filled me and I can’t wait until 9am tomorrow when I get to begin my internship and start to take in all of the opportunities it has in store!

You have learned an amazing lesson that some people take a lifetime to figure out, and some folks never do get it. Life is for living. Take big bites.
