Week Three and Lovin’ It
This is the start of my third week interning, and I am loving every minute. The things I am doing are definitely substantive – no phone answering! My office is full of fun people who always find ways to give me work to do. It makes me feel great to know I am doing something tangible in Congress (yes, I know some people may say that’s an oxymoron….but I won’t get into my feelings on that).
I got to speak with a delegation of female Pakistani Parliamentarians today, which was absolutely mind-boggling. The women were all so interested to hear about my experiences in DC and with the government. When I got to listen to them discuss the issues at hand in their country, I was completely blown away. Although the women spoke nearly flawless English, they were worlds away from living in a society like the one I have grown so accustomed to.
My apartment-mates are all hanging out in the living room and watching some T.V. to unwind. I think that they have the right idea. I’ve had a lot of politics and diplomacy today – I’m ready to veg before I hit the gym.
