Life Goal–Achieved
It’s finally happened…I have finally had a child named after me! A little back story. This year I am an intern in our Office of Community Engagement and Scholarship (OCES). OCES is the product of a merger between the Sharpe Community Scholars Program and our Office of Volunteer Services–so it’s awesome. As an intern I spend a lot of time in the office completing projects, but the best part is hanging out with the two co-directors Prof. Monica Griffin and Prof. Drew Stelljes. There is no way to not laugh spending time with these two and working in the office. Here is flattering picture of Mallory (my intern boss) and me at the grand opening of OCES (Clearly one of us is better at cake smashing than the other).
Back to the baby names…
Prof. Stelljes and his wife are going to have a baby girl in the spring. Being the amazing
Co-Director that he is, he decided to start a baby naming contest in the office. We made a huge poster for anyone
to list suggestions, and then a committee of OCES members winnowed the list to five. We had a brief period of voting, and the top names went to the parents for a final decision…
They chose ELIZABETH!!!!
So, I suppose the child wasn’t actually named after me (there have been other more famous Elizabeths), but it is still really cool that in a few months there will be another awesome Elizabeth as part of the Tribe.
