American Songs!:

I am so excited about the 4th of July in Williamsburg. I will admit that at first I was a little sad about it because I really love spending this holiday at home in Florida with my family, but as my friends and I plan our holiday celebrations I am getting more and more excited. In true American fashion, we plan on spending the day cooking out, playing volleyball, maybe spending some time at the beach, and of course seeing fireworks. I mean, come on, whats not to love about celebrating this national holiday at the place where it all started! Throw in some grilled cheeseburgers and I’m totally there. Plus, it will be a lot of fun to spend the day with my friends and enjoy not having to work. And, there will most definitely be loud singing of America songs!

This summer has really started to show me all that Williamsburg has to offer. There is actually a lot to do here and I findfireworks myself often times trying to defend Williamsburg against the reputation that it is strictly a colonial town. I think its great that we are at a college set in such a rich historical location. Certainly this offers benefits to students at the college (especially our history majors) but at the same time, we are restricted by this environment. This town is still a forward-moving community and the continued development in the area provides many options for students to get off campus and enjoy some relaxing time seeing movies, going shopping, or going out to dinner.

So tomorrow promises to be a fun day! If anything, hopefully it will start some new 4th of July traditions and be the perfect start to a long weekend!
