Trees

When you were a kid you probably drew brown trunks and green leaves, but at William and Mary there are a plethora of trees in different colors and sizes. Now you may not have been told this nor had you noticed it, but at W&M we have every tree that could survive at this climate.

We also have two palm trees, yes palm trees. They have strategically been planted next to a huge heating vent, which has kept them alive. Because of a professor who likes trees, and this heating vent, William and Mary can now claim the title of “College with the northern most Palm Trees, in the US.”

What difference does all of this mean? When walking across campus you never really pay attention, but if you look you’ll notice that the trees are all so different. There are brown ones, tanned ones, ones with big leaves, ones with small leaves. There are trees you can climb, and ones you would crush if you climbed. When looking around you learn to appreciate this little tidbit of W&M history.

So when you come to W&M remember to bring your hammock.
