Know That You Are Loved – Valentine’s Day on Campus

I’ve gotta be honest. I’ve never been a Valentine’s Day person. This morning I woke up as usual at 6:30 and went for a run around campus before heading over to the Rec Center for a workout. On my run I passed by the Crim Dell and saw this banner hanging off the bridge. It had to have been put up late last night because I hadn’t seen it yesterday at dinnertime. I couldn’t help stopping and smiling. These random acts of kindness are typical on campus both by students and by secret societies (like the 13 Society). For the first time I really embraced the fact that it was Valentine’s Day. I even wore a pink dress.

It turns out that today was the best day I’ve had all semester. It was 72 degrees, beautiful, and spring was FINALLY in the air. I didn’t have class until 2 in the afternoon so I spent the morning delivering cupcake orders to random dorms for my service trip fundraiser. I knocked on unknown doors and delivered cupcakes to students who were still in their PJs. My heart warmed every time I saw their faces, because I knew that it was at that moment that they were realizing that someone was thinking about them on Valentine’s Day.

To top it all off, my English research seminar convinced my professor that we needed to have class in the Sunken Gardens – he wholeheartedly agreed.

I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day too and know that you are all loved!
