Happy Birthday

Only 14 days of classes left…whaaaa?
In these last few weeks of school, it seems that every club, sorority or fraternity, and philanthropy is having their last end of year “bash.” It has certainly made studying for finals slowly and gradually dropping in its priority on my list of things to do. But at the top of this list, is an annual event I look forward to every spring – my birthday!
It may be selfish, but who doesn’t like birthdays? I’m especially looking forward to celebrating for the first time with all my new freshman hall mates and sorority sisters. And in honor of turning 19, I’ve decided to make a birthday wish list, something I haven’t done since I was five:
- A trashy romance novel to read at the pool this summer. After my filling of Kant and Rousseau and other prestigious authors I’ve encountered through my coursework this year, its time for some more Twilight quality literature.
- One last William and Mary shirt to add to my collection before heading home this summer. This will be sure to spark the obnoxiously common question – “How did you like your first year at College?” Well OF COURSE I loved it.
- One thing that money can’t buy but I would really appreciate for my birthday – motivation to study for my finals in Swem when the weather is sunny with the high of 75.
- A trip to Sno-to-Go. With its glorious mixture of slushie and ice cream, it’s the perfect birthday treat and perfect way to celebrate the end of the school year.
- Never to forget my memories from freshman year. Let the cliché “awwww’s” begin, or scoff if you wish, but it is the truth. If every year passes as quickly as this one has, I will be out of college and into the real world before I know it. I want to be sure I can remember every carefree moment as a bright eyed 18 year old freshman. Now onto sophomore year and new experiences as an OLD 19 year old. I might as well put a cane and walker on my birthday wish for next year.
