Spring Bling

With all the excitement of spring, my mind has been wandering to everything except class. Even though we are only at theSpringhalfway point in the semester, I feel like I should be chilling on Jamestown beach[1] reading a pleasure book[2] with my cool shades and bikini on. Though I know school work does not seem like a priority right now with the 71 degree weather we are experiencing in the Burg, there are ways to enjoy the outdoors while being productive. Let’s take the sunken gardens, for example.  Many of the students take advantage of its direct sunlight and often times catch up on class readings while getting a nice tan. I wouldn’t suggest bringing my laptop since the glare is so fierce that you can’t see the screen[3],  but ample amounts of reading and brainstorming can occur in the sunken gardens.  The Sadler Center terrace is another place where ample sunshine meets productivity.  Equipped with umbrellas to serve as shade if your cool shades aren’t enough , the tables serve as a nice work area for reading, working out math problems, and typing on your laptop.  The Sundial in front of Swem Library is also a beautiful sunny spot to do some homework. Though you may be distracted as your friends cross the paths to class, the peace during class times offers a nice work environment when the drab lighting of Swem is not what you are looking for.

I know it is hard[4] but just think one day when your career is set and your making all the money because of your William and Mary education, you will be sitting on Bahia Honda beach in Florida, with your itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka dot bikini[5] and Versace glasses without a class assignment in sight. Hard work pays off.

Enjoy the weather.
