The Deadlines Are Coming…A Little Bit Later
Admit It! You’ve been crossing your fingers for just a few extra days to complete your Early Decision or spring transfer application. Thanks to Hurricane Sandy and the “hurrication” taken by many schools (both secondary and post-secondary), we have decided to extend the Early Decision and spring transfer application deadlines to Monday, November 5. We hope this allows those applicants living in the areas affected by the storm (and their schools) to submit all of the required documents in light of likely power outages and school closings.
If you wish to apply for Early Decision or spring transfer admission but cannot meet the new deadline, you can contact our office by phone (757-221-4223) or email (admission@wm.edu) and request an additional extension. Such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Stay safe and stay dry.

Hello! I am an applicant from China, and I was wondering whether this extension policy applys to international students admission? Thanks!
@Tianlin Liu, the deadline was extended to assist those impacted by Hurricane Sandy but we will accept any and all Early Decision materials from any student through November 5.
I see… THX again!Happy halloween!
Scenario: Student applies for admission to the class of 2015. Student is accepted but torn over his top two schools. Student chooses another highly ranked VA school instead. After a year has gone by, student realizes that he really belongs at W&M and is applying as a spring transfer (tomorrow)in the hopes of joining the sophomore class this spring.
Questions:
Does W&M know that the student was admitted previously? Should the student mention that?
Is the student likely to be admitted now or will W&M be angry that the student didn’t come to W&M in the first place?
If the student has been invited onto a varsity team will that have any impact on admission?
Do spring transfer students receive need-based financial aid (e.g., grants)?
Any input will be appreciated! Thanks!
@wondering, it would be good for you to explain in your Supplement essay (the one that asks you to address why you want to go to W&M specifically) that you were previously admitted, why you chose not to attend and why you now feel it’s the right next step. If you are bein recruited by one of our coaches we will know that and it will play a role in our process.
Assuming you apply for financial aid, you will be considered for all forms of need-based aid (grants loans, work study).
Thanks, W&M. I will look forward to decision day!
