Happy Holidays – Admission Office Closed for Winter Break
We Admit It! Like you, all of us in the Admission Office are ready for winter break. As of this evening (December 23), William & Mary and the Office of Undergraduate Admission will be closed for the holidays. We will reopen on January 4.
We realize that the next eight days are some of the busiest of the application season. In fact, between now and our January 1 Regular Decision deadline, we will receive the vast majority of our 14,000+ applications. As such, we will continue to download and process applications over the break, and will email applicants and their parents accordingly. Please note that during these busier times it can take longer than normal for us to download your application from Common App and can take up to a month for us to match it with your application materials. Be patient and check your inbox—we will be in touch as we process your application.
Should you have any last-minute questions, we will be checking our admission@wm.edu daily throughout the break. While we will not be able to confirm receipt of specific materials, we will be happy to address any questions or concerns you have about applying to W&M. We will also monitor this blog for questions during the office closure.
We wish you all a very happy holiday season, and look forward to reading all of your applications in the new year.
Brad Harlan
Assistant Dean of Admission

Hello, Admit It!
I have a question relating to the SAT for regular decision applicants. When is your test deadline? When is the latest I can submit my SAT scores to the Admissions Office?
@Angel M the last recommended SAT test date is January 23. If you elect to take this SAT, we would recommend that you make note of this in the testing section of your Common Application. Once your scores become available, you can email us (admission@wm.edu) with a screenshot of your scores as an unofficial score report. If you then arrange for an official score report to be sent to our office as soon as possible, they should arrive in time to be considered with your application.
Hello, Admit It!
I just rushed my SAT scores today, so is there still a chance that they can still be considered with my application under the regular decision deadline?
@Emily yes. These scores should arrive in time to be considered with your application. Once we receive your scores we will make sure that they are added to your file.
Hi Admit It!
I just sent my SAT I and SAT II scores this evening through the CollegeBoard, but a notification on my screen said that the rush delivery option is not available right now, so I selected standard delivery. Is this acceptable to still be consider by the RD deadline? My scores are also noted on my Common Application.
@Anne this is alright. If you have already requested that these scores be sent to us, they should arrive in time to be considered with your application. We will process your scores once we receive them.
I submitted my application to William and Mary several days ago, but still haven’t received any notification that it has been recieved. Will I have access to an online portal or recieve news by mail? Thanks and happy new year!
@Katherine during this busiest time of year there can sometimes be a delay in the processing of applications. If you have not received anything from us by the end of this week you are welcome to send us an email at admission@wm.edu in order to receive an update on the status of your application.
I was accepted to the class of 2020 easy decision. Besides paying the $350, are there any other fees I need to pay? Such as a housing application/deposit?
@Emily congratulations on your acceptance to W&M! We are thrilled to have you as a member of the Tribe. There are no additional fees that you need to pay at this time other than your enrollment deposit. We encourage you to review this timeline (http://www.wm.edu/admission/undergraduateadmission/discover/timeline/index.php) going forward, as it details important dates/deadlines. Happy New Year!
