Day for Admitted Transfers is the Place to Be
Admit It! admitted transfers, you’ve opened the “Good News” email, you’re psyched about potentially joining the Tribe and you’re trying to make those tough decisions that come with multiple proverbial thick envelopes. Well our Day for Admitted Transfers is designed to help answer your questions and to help you decide whether or not W&M is the next step in your educational journey (which we of course hope it is). So, looking for reasons to attend? We’ve got a list for that.
- It’s Williamsburg in the spring. The flowers are blooming, the trees are green and the campus looks gorgeous (we’ll win you over with that if nothing else).
- Free William & Mary swag, ‘nuf said.
- Our tour guides are taking a break from studying for finals to give you all a tour. They’re excited to meet you and to show you around. Don’t leave them hanging.
- Assistant Dean of Students, Ben Boone will be there. He LOVES transfers!
- Kim Van Deusen will be there. You know her. She signed your admission email and admission letters. You’ve been emailing, faxing, calling, consulting, meeting with her for what seems like forever. She LOVES transfers the most!
- The weather forecast looks pretty favorable (high in the low 80s and minimal chance of rain). We’ll take it.
- The Admission Ambassadors have been working hard for months to ensure you have a great day. They won’t let you down.
- Faculty and administrators from numerous departments will be on hand to introduce you to their programs and to answer your questions.
- The Griffin has been repping our admitted transfer students in style. Don’t give him a reason to change his wardrobe.
- What’s better than a chance to meet and network with the students, faculty and staff who will be integral to the next few years of your life? We’re all here to show you the meaning of One Tribe and to convince you to become a part of it.
So register for the event, set your GPS to Williamsburg and come see W&M for yourself. We hope you decide it’s so great that you won’t want to leave. If that’s the case, submit your enrollment deposit and officially join the Tribe!

Hi,
My daughter received a packet in the mail! It is the official welcome packet and says she has 2 weeks to make her decision. Is it two weeks from the letter date or the received date? And, the sheet about financial aid says expect an email in 3-7 days. Is that the case for late-admits too?
Thanks!!
@Wondering, the deadline for enrollment deposits for transfers is May 15 (approximately two weeks from the date on the decision letter). And financial aid info should be arriving about 5-7 business days after the student was admitted (it’s not that those admitted last weekend were late admits there was simply a small percentage of early admits this cycle).
I got my “Good News” email last Friday, but I haven’t received my packet in the mail yet. Should I be worried?
Same question as @Amy’s.
@Amy and @Piaoyang, they were only mailed on Tuesday so if you’re far away, we’re not surprised they haven’t reached you yet. Additionally, depends on whether or not you provided us a mailing address for your current location at your current school. If you didn’t, they were mailed to your permanent home address.
@Piaoyang and Amy, I got the email last friday as well, but only got my admissions packet yesterday. I’d say its just slow mail.
Do many people’s parents attend with them?
Any updates for first time freshmen waiting list? 🙂
@Kelsey, we are beginning to gather our thoughts on that and will provide an update when we can.
I couldn’t make it to transfer day, will there be other opportunities for transfes to attend?
@Question, your comment got caught in spam and wasn’t released ’til today so sorry the answer is coming after the event but some people do bring parents and others don’t.
@Nadia, we don’t have any more admitted transfer programs given the deposit deadline is next week. You’re welcome to come to campus on your own but we’re not offering any tours right now because our students are in finals. We’re happy to address any questions you might have however by phone, email, etc.
Could you or Residence Life please provide an update on the transfer housing application that went live this morning? It seems clear that through CC and the Facebook group that the students are concerned about 1. The cutoff time for the 50 people guaranteed housing (ex: 9:10, anyone else after didn’t make the cut) and 2. How many students have already applied.
Thanks!
@Transfer housing blues, it will unfortunately take Residence Life some time to gather everything that was submitted so there may not be an update as yet. However, you are welcome to contact them directly to see if they are able to provide any insight.
Ahem… I *may* be responsible for that madness. At any rate, W&M admissions doesn’t have anything to do with that- I’d direct your question to Housing.
If you do get a reply from housing, post to the thread I started on Transfer App completion times. I’m a bit too nervous to ask myself.
As for what I’ve observed, there seem to be very few people who posted within the first two minutes, ergo the panic/high number of views on that thread/ low # of replies on the thread and FB after the 9:02 time was announced. And there also seemed to be connectivity problems between then and 9:08 (based on FB), which would indicate a surge in submissions, which likely indicates the peak (ie wayyy past the 50 spots point). I know that’s likely disappointing (and indicates how crazy we all are) but I hope I helped.
@Lauren, thanks for clarifying! You guys may be more in the loop than anyone since you’re the participants in it all.
