12,500 Down, 300 to go
Admit It! It’s almost March and thus pretty close to April and you’re starting to check your mailbox and in-box with great anticipation awaiting all of those decision notifications. Whether the decisions be good or bad, you just want the decision. Well, in order to get the decision, your application must be reviewed, and in order to be reviewed, your application must be complete.
We are on a roll. We have completed all but 300 of our nearly 13,000 applications for the Class of 2015 (so I’m referring to freshman applications only — transfers we are working on your applications too, never fear). To those 300 applicants whose files are missing something, we have emailed you to let you know what’s missing. It could be an application fee, a transcript, or a standardized test score or some combination thereof. In the case of a missing application fee (man, that sounds like the title of a Nancy Drew book…I’ve probably just dated myself), please send a check or money order for $60. made out to the College of William & Mary ASAP. Our mailing address is available online. Be sure to use the right address (based on whether you send via U.S. Postal Service or another mail carrier). If you’re missing a transcript or standardized test score, please have your counselor fax us a copy and have a hard/official copy sent by mail. I know I’ve said this a few times already but do not worry if something is missing. Do not yell at your parents or your counselor or yourself; just re-submit whatever is missing. We know mistakes happen. Maybe it got lost in the mail. Maybe it got misfiled. No biggie. Just be sure to send whatever materials are requested to our office ASAP. No penalty is assessed and your application will be viewed in the same light as everyone else’s.
So please check your email frequently. That’s how we will update you on your application status and how we will communicate admission decisions. Help us go from 300 to zero in as few days/weeks as possible.

Almost there! I can not wait until April 1st, it seems it has been forever since i submitted my application, but it’s just a little over a month away now! 🙂
I’m a little curious but what is the chance of a deferred student from early decision getting accepted? Or what has it been in previous years? Do you have a better chance of getting admitted than you did in ED?
Thanks,
Mark
Mark,
We can’t wait for April 1 either. Once we have an exact date/time for decision notification emails we will post a blog/social media status update/etc.
Generally, less than 10% of deferred students are admitted unfortunately. The competition is simply stiffer during regular decision (nearly 13,000 applications compared to 1,100). However, rest assured that your application will be reviewed again before any final decision is made.
Hi, Thanks for the update! By “completed” do you mean that you have reached all but 300 admissions decisions?
Thanks, Kelly
Kelly,
Sorry for the confusion. No, I mean we have simply received all required materials for all but 300 applications. The remaining 300 cannot be reviewed or decided upon until we receive whatever material is missing.
Hope that makes things clear.
So is April 1st the tentative deadline? Could there be a chance that the admission results may be released earlier?
The first week of April is the tentative deadline. Once a more exact date for decisions to be emailed has been determined it will be posted on our website, our blog, and our social media outlets. The date could be earlier but it might not be.
