Technology is not for everyone…
I am not the kind of person who can turn on a computer and work wonders. To be perfectly honest I have a hard time working the remote control for my TV. This lack of knowledge becomes a problem when I break my computer and need to figure out how to fix it. Luckily, here at William and Mary we have the myNotebook program. This program allows for students to purchase either a Dell or Mac computer through the school and it comes with a 4 year warranty. I did take part in this deal and I am glad that I did (In 2005 when I purchased my laptop, the model was the IBM Thinkpad, but the same concept). Being the clutz that I am, it was not long before I began dropping my computer, not treating it the best, and eventually spilling a drink on it. I was concerned with the care of my computer, but then I took it to the people that work in Informtation Technology (IT). As I walked into Jones, where IT is located, I passed a friend of mine that did the same thing to his computer. He said he just dropped off his computer and they were going to do what they could to save it. I go into IT myself and after being there 5 minutes I was told I could come back in a few days and pick up my computer up. Only a few days later it was completely back to new. I was very impressed with the way inwhich IT handled the situation. In the last three years I know I have been to IT atleast 5 times for User errors and each time they are very helpful and get my computer back to tip top shape!
*Quick Note: I had to have one of the other interns help me figure out how to write my first blog
