The Rumors are True
Yesterday my little brother in my fraternity and myself decided to take the gamble of a lifetime.
We had heard the rumors…whispers of yet another use for the epic Colonial Williamsburg mug. It was a hot summer day, and, after kicking it for a bit at Yorktown Beach we decided that only one thing could possibly make the heat a little bit more bearable: ice cream.
Now let me clarify. Like many others, my little and me are mug afficionados – we believe in it’s magical, cider-rifically profound healing powers. But we had heard through the grapevine that during the summer months the mug, in addition to it’s ability to secure many delicious beverages for you for free in Colonial Williamsburg, could grant yet another wish during the dog days on DOG street: free ice cream. That’s right. Bask in the possibilities.
So we walked, unsure of direction, down DOG street on our quest; a razors edge between being rewarded with wonderous dairy treasure or being crushed by the bitterness of denail associated with that sweet vanilla-chocolate-y goodness.
We asked around cautiously at first, planning our strategy, and were eventually led to a small building in the garden behind Shield’s Tavern towards the Colonial Capital. It was in this place – amongst the tourist masses, sweltering heat, and colonial history – that we discovered the truth.
YOU CAN GET YOUR MUG FILLED WITH ICE CREAM FOR FREE IN COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG DURING THE SUMMER.
Not only that, you can also get root beer slushies, and even (it’s too good to be true), root beer floats.
So venture out, followers of the way of the cider mug, and flock to Shield’s Tavern, possibly stopping for a free Arnold Palmer or two along the way as we did.
The clouds have broken and the mysteries have been dispelled.
I love this town.
