A Day in the Life

Each day at William & Mary is unique. While my class schedule is set for the semester and I know that I will be in Swem Library leading up to various deadlines and test dates, I never know what each day will bring me. At the beginning of each semester I’ll set up some weekly meetings for different organizations and they’ll start to color my Google Calendar. Scattered between classes and the evenings, these meetings will be times to come together with fellow students who share my passions. These meetings will also require extra time throughout the week preparing, doing outside work, and coming to them with new ideas to discuss.

I quickly found that what works best for me is to schedule classes early in the morning and have the whole afternoon to do work, relax, go on a run, or meet with a professor. I am currently training for a couple different running events, so my afternoons are filled with more runs than usual. Despite that, I am using some afternoons to ignore my running shoes and get in a quick nap or Netflix show. Between classes and my afternoon activities, I’ll grab lunch with some friends at any dining hall. One of the perks of William & Mary’s size is that I get to see people I know whenever I’m walking on campus, without being overwhelmingly small.

My evenings always vary from group dinners, late nights in Swem, big campus wide events, fitness classes at the Student Recreation Center (what we call the Rec), or long discussions with my friends. I always try to seize different opportunities around campus to get the best experience I can. Every day I am making decisions on what amazing opportunity or responsibility I’m going to spend my time on, to have the best experience I can at W&M.
