The Meeting

The MeetingLast Thursday, I went to see a play called “The Meeting” hosted by the Center for Student Diversity (CSD) and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. “The Meeting” is about a fictitious meeting between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.  It was a very real life scenario and I could actually see the two of them bickering about certain issues in a childish and sarcastic way.  Even though these phenomenal figures were larger than life and have left a legacy upon the United States that most people will not, “The Meeting” placed their personalities in a more “real” perspective.  Though they were social activists with great dreams, they were still human beings who expressed anger, arm wrestled to prove masculinity, and loved despite all the turmoil around them.  I urge you to YouTube “The Meeting” (you will not get the whole play but you can see a taste of it). It was a very interesting and great portrayal of two giants and their human like qualities.

“The Meeting” is just one of the many events the Center for Student Diversity has hosted that have been positive additions to my life.  StaceyAnn Chin, Pre-Kwanzaa, Roland Martin, etc… are memorable moments in my college career. I just want to personally thank the CSD for making sure diversity is not forgotten at William and Mary!
