To Paraphrase a Supreme Court Justice

Students sometimes feel compelled to fill out every line provided in the application for extracurricular involvements. Sometimes this leads students to submit resumes with questionable activities. I paraphrase a supreme court justice when I say that I cannot define an extracurricular activity but I know one when I see one. On-line gaming, free reading, travel…these are not extracurricular activities. I do appreciate the stretches students make in completing the application. Sometimes resumes can give me a much needed chuckle after a long day of reading files but such stretches do not make the applicant more competitive.
