The Interviewees are Coming, The Interviewers are Here
We Admit It! We get pretty psyched about the arrival of our Senior Interviewers in the office. This week 14 William & Mary rising seniors joined the admission staff. They brought with them tons of energy, lots of Tribe Pride and a sincere desire to get to know the W&M Class of 2018. They will be with us throughout the summer and are eager to meet with all of the rising high school seniors who will be visiting campus.
Participating in an on-campus interview is a great way to bring your application to life. Paper applications can feel two-dimensional; they are hard to put your personality into. During an on-campus interview, you get to show us your personality. You get to share your story with us: who you are, what makes you tick, what you can bring to the W&M campus. Interviews are an optional and evaluative component to our process. Should you be a rising high school senior and able to visit our campus, we definitely encourage you to take part. If you’re not, don’t worry; we have space available for only about 20% of our applicant pool to interview so most students apply to W&M without this particular component.
Interviews are offered every weekday between June 24 and August 16 (with the exception of July 4). Registration is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Unlike tours which are often given to a group of students and parents, interviews are individualized. You sit down, one-on-one, with a current W&M student and not only tell them – and by extension the admission deans – about you, but you get the chance to ask them questions and learn more about student life on campus. Richard, Sam, Katie, Tony, Mimi, Kate, Colin, Emmy, Chloe, Chantalle, Sofia, Andrea, Anderson and Rebecca are AWESOME. They represent a really great cross-section of the William & Mary student body, and they are eager to talk with prospective students and families.
So if you haven’t done so already, go online and register for an on-campus interview today. Interviews start on Monday and we’re ready to get the ball rolling.

I underwent the interview process with Andrea just yesterday, and it was incredible! W&M has such a talented and energetic student body; I am thoroughly impressed. I was very excited to share my experiences throughout high school, as well as to hear about my interviewer’s own work and activities at W&M; I may very well end up involved in some of them myself if I end up at the university! The information session and campus tour further grounded my overall excitement in what could become my new home, and I look forward to applying! Thank you for granting me and many other prospective students invaluable opportunities like these to get involved with W&M early on. Hands down, this school is one of my top choices (now if it could start its own engineering school, I’d apply Early Decision, no questions asked! Well, maybe a few.)
@Sam, so glad you enjoyed your visit to campus yesterday. While an engineering school is not likely in our future there are opportunities at W&M to begin the path towards a career in engineering. Hey, I was wondering if you would recommend that prospective transfer students for the spring semester come in for an interview?
@William and Mary Transfer, interviews are not part of the transfer application process. They are only part of our freshman application process.
