The Countdown to January 1 is on
Admit It! January 1 cannot get here soon enough for you. We feel the same way, although likely for different reasons. On January 1, your hard work ends. On January 1, our hard work begins. But regardless of our differences, we’re all awaiting the New Year.
As the countdown clock continues to tick away, we know you’ll keep the midnight oil burning. It’s proven in the fact that applications are coming in by the scores each day. We’re downloading, printing, stapling, alphabetizing and compiling away and we’ll continue to be here for you as the countdown approaches zero. Even though our office will be closed December 23 – January 2 we will be available on this blog (via comments), on our social media channels (Facebook and College Confidential) and through our admission@wm.edu email. Please keep in mind that we will not be able to confirm receipt of specific materials during this time as applications are coming in by the hundreds and mail by the crate. We will email you when we download your Common App and we will email you again when we match your application with all required materials. Additionally, if you’re experiencing any technical problems with the Common Application you should contact the Common Application itself (help@commonapp.org). That email is staffed 24 hours a day and response time is very short. We will be available however to answer any last-minute questions or anxieties that come up as you prepare to click submit.
Until the ball drops, take some time to enjoy the season and your break from school. And of course, complete your application to William & Mary of course!

Thanks for the consistent, helpful blog posts…it’s always great to have a connection to W&M to help get through that long wait until April 1st. I also have a question about the admissions process…I emailed my regional representative (Ms. Scott) the emails listed at the bottom of her entry on the “Meet the Committee” page about a month ago, but when I still hadn’t heard back for about 3 weeks, I sent the message to the other address listed at the top. Is it typical to receive any response at all, or should I be concerned that the message was simply not received? There was nothing pressing in the message, and I’m sure the admissions committee has its hands more than full already, but I’m not quite sure what to expect. Any insight would be great! Thanks 🙂
K.R., generally we do respond to any email that warrents a response. Many of us have been in and out of the office for the past several weeks due to the College being closed which could have led to a delay in Ms. Scott responding to you. We will forward her this email as well and hopefully she’ll be able to respond to you once the College reopens later this week.
