It’s the Final Waitlist Update – For Transfers
We Admit It! Summer is around the corner, the 2015-2016 Common Application will launch in just over a month and that means it’s time to bring our 2014-2015 cycle to its conclusion. On June 16, we in essence did that. All students remaining on the transfer waitlist were sent an update via email letting them know that as of now, our incoming transfer cohort is full. We do not anticipate admitting any additional students. We do admit however, that the possibility exists that things may change. Students who are interested in remaining on the waitlist for consideration should we be able to bring in additional students need to complete an online form (linked in the email). Should we be able to admit additional transfer students, we will look only at those students who complete that form. All admission offers would be made by August 1. This email is very similar to the email that was sent to all students remaining on the freshman waitlist last week.
So with this update, we truly bring our 2014-2015 admission cycle to a close for both freshman and transfer applicants. We whole-heartedly thank each of our prospective students and their families for considering W&M, for applying to W&M and for going through this journey with us. We are now full steam ahead with the W&M Class of 2020 and the incoming transfer students for spring and fall 2016.

Hello! I was hoping you could help me with a question I have regarding the spring 2016 freshman transfer process. Is the acceptance rate for the spring freshman transfer process lower or higher than the regular decision freshman acceptance rate? I did not get into W&M when I applied regular decision ( I am an out of state student) and I was just curious if since that happened do I have a chance of being accepted to transfer in spring 2016? (I read in a previous post that spring transferring is pretty selective) Thank you!!
@Possible Transfer Student, the quirk with spring transfer admission for second semester freshmen is that we are limited by whether or not we have any housing available to provide. There are times when we have very few if any available spots in our freshman residence halls. That can compel us to den students who are very competitive. In such cases, we encourage those students to reapply for fall. We’ve blogged about this before. We’ve also blogged about students who apply after nor being admitted so check our those posts forire detail.
