Decisions Decisions: Welcome Class of 2015
Admit It! When you opened your email and saw a picture of the cuddly Griffin checking his mailbox your heart skipped a beat. You read the email that told you to check your mailbox in the days to come for that elusive “thick envelope” and you probably pinched yourself. Congratulations and welcome to the Tribe! We are thrilled to welcome you to William & Mary’s Class of 2015 (the College’s 318th class). We hope you will decide to enroll at W&M this coming fall and become a part of the alma mater of a nation.
Your admit pack will include an invitation to our Day for Admitted Students; a campus open-house designed for admitted students and their families. You won’t want to miss it. The entire campus (faculty, staff, students, alumni, the Griffin, etc.) will be on-hand to welcome you to W&M and to help you learn more about the opportunities that await you in the ‘burg. We also encourage you to visit the Welcome website which will provide up-to-date information on everything admitted students need to know as well as welcomes from campus community members and information about those joining the Class of 2015. This dynamic multi-media site will be your source for all the latest information on the place we hope you will decide to call home for the next four years. Also consider becoming part of the conversation on the Facebook page designed just for your class. Those admitted during early decision have been eagerly awaiting your presence online.
Financial aid awards will be emailed to those students who submitted a FAFSA in the next week or so. The email will instruct you how to view your award online.
So Admit It! You’re cool. You know it. We know it. Update your Facebook status and let the world know it. We’re One Tribe and now it’s yours. We hope to see you on campus for a visit in the weeks to come and we hope to see you here on move-in day in the fall.
Welcome to William & Mary and congratulations!

I was checking my email during my online class at school this morning, with no expectations to see a “Good decisions” subject line, but after opening the email, reading it twice, and calling over a teacher to make sure I wasn’t dreaming, I finally realized I had been accepted. I then proceeded to sprint across the school to my mother’s classroom to tell her the wonderful news. Thank you so much, admissions team. I can’t wait to join the class of 2015!
Congrulations Mallory and way to share your new Tribe Pride with your classmates!
I am not the least bit ashamed to admit that I have been openly weeping since receiving the news of my child’s acceptance to W&M! Thank you so much!
-Tribe ’15 Mom
Anne, congrats to you and your student. We love giving good news and knowing that people are thrilled to receive it
WHOO-HOO!!!!!! Congratulations to the Class of 2015 from another VERY proud Mom. Bring on the fanfare!
Today is my 18th birthday and my acceptance to W&M was the best gift ever!! Thankyou so much 🙂
Accepted and loving life! Go Tribe!
She applied to both regular and dual degree program. The smart email left her perplexed as is a ” good things” email, and to look for a bigger thing without specifics to which program.
Could she be in for one and not the other?
I was half falling asleep when I heard my blackberry go off telling me I had an email. I begrudgingly checked it only to see the subject “Good things”. My heart just stopped. I will admit it (pun?) I had to reread this one a few times over to make sure this was real. I was asking friends, my mom, and as many people as I could find to see if this was really an acceptance. I really did not see this coming so I am absolutely blown away! I can’t wait for W&M!
Thanks admissions!!!
-Shout out to Wendy!
Emma, congratulations and happy belated birthday!
Rhys, congratulations and welcome to the Tribe!
Brandon, congratulations and thanks for the shout out. So thrilled to have you as a member of the Tribe!
Randy, congrats to your student.
Margaret, those who were waitlisted or denied to W&M and the joint degree program learned that in the email they received. Those admitted to W&M and the joint degree program were mailed information in addition to the Good Things email so good things are coming in multiple ways!
Good things do come in small packages! Thoroughly delighted and grateful for the admit decision. I am dreaming about the many opportunities Sumedh will have to become an educated citizen and serve his country. Admissions Officers: Thank You, Thank You. Thank You!!
DadTribe, congrats to you and Sumedh. Sumedh was an outstanding applicant and we’re thrilled for all of the students admitted!
Yay Class of 2015! I was admitted early decision to W&M earlier this year and am SO excited to meet my new, fellow classmates. The “Good Things” email certainly did give me the best kind of chill bumps, and its clever wording made me feel worthy of the acceptance, too! Congratulations to everyone who made it in. We’ve all worked extremely hard to get here, and now the fun (with intense work, clearly) begins! 🙂
Margot, congrats! Glad you liked the Good Things email. We like it a lot and appreciate the applicants who appreciate its subtle humor.
And yes the work will be challenging but we know you’re more than up to the challenge!
Another proud TribeMOM.. thanks so much for admitting my daughter to the class of 2015. She got her email around 12:30 ran in my room and woke me up so excited asking me to read the email so she could be sure it said what she thought it said (LOL)…. afterwards she went to sleep peacefully I was awake until 3:00. She is still smiling
Congrats to all who made it see you on 4/16/11.
Congrats TribeMOM2. Clearly you’ve raised an incredibly talented and accomplished young woman.
We look forward to seeing you on campus on Day for Admitted Students.
I love reading these comments because I did the exact same thing! I grabbed my mom and asked, this does mean I’m accepted, right? I couldn’t believe it! As an out-of-stater I’m very excited to be a part of the tribe! (:
Congrats Elizabeth. While we know the email had a bit of quirky subtlety to it, we did add “Welcome to the Tribe” to ease the anxiety and help those who got the email get its intention.
Welcome to the Tribe!
Good news is I got in. Bad news is I can’t afford it. Oh well someone on the waitlist will be happy! And I sincerly mean that.
Katie, we assume you’ve already received your financial aid information. If that’s the case we’re certainly sorry to lose you but we understand and wish you all the best. If you haven’t yet received that info we encourage you to wait and review all of the information before making a decision.
Sadly, one person turning down our admission offer doesn’t mean we’ll use the waitlist but we appreciate your good vibes for those on the waitlist.
You assumed correctly. I figure this happened to others as well..so I figured the waitlist would be ventured.
It very well might but we try to admit just the right number of students assuming a certain pre-determined percent will enroll and a certain pre-determined percent will not. Now it’s just a waiting game for us and those on the waitlist
