Get Up and Dance

Kids are fun, right?  They do not care what they wear and they don’t care who is watching when they laugh, cry, pick their nose, eat with their hands and dance.   That changes at some point and sometimes I wish it didn’t.  Well some of it can change.  Imagine how cool it would be if we all felt ok to laugh out loud at something silly or to try to make others laugh at a moments notice.  How great would it be if we climbed trees just because.  Remember chasing your friends around the yard until you could barely breath, stopping for just a moment and starting again.  Remember that awesome feeling of surprising your friend when he was looking for you in a game of hide and seek?   When you were a kid freeze tag could be the highlight of the day.  Imagine if adults played freeze tag or our world leaders took breaks from meetings to play red light, green light.

I wonder when and how that ends.  I bet it is more a learned trait than we think.  We are taught the rules of the game, right?  Sit still, remain quiet, no more tag at meetings, and no dancing in the classroom…..  Hmm.  Says who?

Get up and dance.  Move the desks.  Care less about how you look.  Take some risks.  Who cares who is watching.  You might just make them laugh.
