Admitted Students’ Day: Get Pumped
Congratulations to all of the newly admitted students! I know how awful, how excruciating the wait has been. And I know that for many, the decision facing you is unbearably difficult. No one said that figuring out the next four years of your life was going to be easy. So I would encourage everyone who can to come out to our Admitted Students’ Day in two weeks- it’s the perfect opportunity to interact with current students as well as other admitted students, and see what makes W&M so perfectly unique.
When I came for Admitted Students’ Day last year, it was the perfect Virginia spring day. I was a little nervous, but the students were helpful, enthusiastic, and made me feel completely at ease. I spent the day wandering the campus completely starry-eyed; it was my first opportunity to really imagine myself living on this unbelievable campus.
New students aren’t the only ones who are excited about the upcoming event. You’d be surprised how excited current students have been recently about the newly selected members of the Tribe. But really- after the acceptances were sent out it was all anyone talked about. Partly because we remember the excitement we felt upon hearing the news, but mostly because we can’t wait to meet others who are as passionate about this place as we are.
So when you come in a few weekends, take a minute to look around. This campus? It could be your home. Those other students? Your classmates. At the event last year, I just happened to sit next to a girl who would later become my sorority sister, my teammate, and one of my best friends. So remember to keep an open mind, because you have an amazing opportunity in front of you. You have a chance to forever be a member of the Tribe.
Again, congratulations on the acceptance! I hope you see you all in a few weekends!!
