Alexandra Rodriguez
A warm ‘hi and welcome!’ to all the newly-admitted students out there, Alex here. Just a few months ago I stood in your very same shoes: recently having learned of my acceptance to this great college (in my case, as a transfer student). Although I’ve been here only a short time, I can attest to the welcoming, supportive and enthusiastic community that exists here at the College—it’s a terrific environment for growing as an individual and as a student. A bit about myself… I’m a junior majoring in Global Studies with a concentration in Latin America, hoping to study abroad in Argentina next semester. I’m from Miami (of Florida, not Ohio—I get that question a lot), I have an affinity for photography and a grand appreciation for graphic design, I drink a lot a lot a lot of hot tea, and I spend a fair amount of my free time with music, both listening and playing. I’m a self-taught guitarist, and this semester I’m actually enrolled in a Group Piano class (which I highly recommend, it’s a blast!). If you’d like to know anything else about me or the College, if you have any questions, if you’d like to talk, or recommend a nice combination of tea leaves… anything at all, please do not hesitate to contact me. This is the beginning of a big and important part of your lives, and I’m amply excited for each of you!
David Murphy
Hello admitted students of the Class of 2015! First let me start by saying congrats on being accepted into W&M, the place that I have called home for the last three years. My name is David Murphy and I am a junior double majoring in History and Government. I originally hail from Fredericksburg, Virginia. When I first arrived here in Williamsburg I was worried about leaving my family, friends, and my home where I had spent most of my life, but I quickly realized what a special place the College of William and Mary is. I was quickly drawn into the community and became involved on campus through many student organizations including the Student Assembly, and my social fraternity Kappa Sigma. William & Mary has become more than a home away from, it IS my home. So, if you have any questions or just want to talk before you join us here in the fall feel free to contact me.
Salil Singhal
Hello! My name is Salil Singhal and I am a senior International Relations and Economics double major here at the College! Unfortunately, I won’t be here when the Class of 2015 arrives on campus but you can get to know me right now. I most recently hail from Frederick, Maryland, which is about 3.5 hours from Williamsburg. I’ve been really involved in the International Relations Club, the Undergraduate Student Assembly, the Admissions Office and a few other organizations on campus. After I graduate in a few short months, I will either be going off to Mongolia for a year on a State Department grant or working for a “think tank” in Washington. I can’t wait to welcome members of the Class of 2015 to the College and share my Tribe Pride!
Annie Sung
Hey there! My name is Annie Sung and I am currently a junior double majoring in Economics and International Relations here at the college. I proudly hail from Taipei, Taiwan, but I moved to Shanghai, China when I was 5, where I spent my childhood and attended Shanghai American School until graduation. I have an insatiable love of learning, and even though I am officially an International Relations and Economics major, I’ve had fun dabbling in scuba diving, learning Latin (one of my “things to do before I die”), and digging into Dante’s Divine Comedy. I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy, over the summer – one of the most amazing experiences of my life. On campus, I am mainly involved with the International Relations Club, H.O.P.E. (Health Outreach Peer Educators), and community service with Campus Kitchens. I am, above all else, a traveler, and I love experiencing the world through food and cuisine. I enjoy sunny days, Law & Order marathons, and Vogue with a cup of hot tea. I am excited to meet the future class of William and Mary!
Shannon Beydler
My name is Shannon Beydler and I am currently a junior, English and Government double major at the College. I’m kinda from all over the place as my Dad is in the Marine Corps and so I’ve lived in Arizona, South Carolina, Virginia, California, Italy, Germany, and Japan. Since I’ve been at William and Mary, I’ve gotten the chance to take advantage of some really incredible opportunities including studying at Cambridge University in England for a summer and participating in the W&M in Washington semester program through which I interned at the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. On campus I am very involved in international service efforts: I went to a remote village in Kenya last summer, teaching English to preschoolers for 4 weeks and I’m the leader of a service trip that goes to Belize. I am also a director on the service committee of the International Relations Club, through which one of my main projects is organizing the Developing World Gallery. It’ll be on display in the Sadler Center during the Day for Admitted Students. I can’t wait to help usher in the Class of 2015 and show you how much W&M can do for you!
