Chris Marty

Chris MartyHello future Tribe Members! My name is Chris Marty and I hail from San Francisco, California!  Though getting home over the holidays certainly wasn’t always easy, choosing William & Mary was TOTALLY worth the airfare and travel time. I was an English Major/Sociology Minor, though I might be able to convince some that I actually “majored” in extracurriculars.  William & Mary provides students with wonderful opportunities for campus and community involvement, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. I look back fondly on moments spent with my A Cappella group, The Gentlemen of the College, and moments spent as a Tribe Tour Guide, happily bleeding green and gold as I lead prospective students (and families) all over campus. Two random facts: I have a twin sister who also serves as my closest friend and confidant; I used to be a competitive figure skater and will (on occasion) bust out a double axel, or two.

Lee Desser

Lee DesserHi everyone! My name is Lee Desser and I was an English major at the College. I was super excited to write a blog for the W&M website. In fact, the whole blog thing made me feel very much like Hank Moody from the show Californication, except for the whole womanizing part… Anyways, I’m from Santa Monica, California (represent!) and transferred to W&M from UC-Santa Barbara on the West Coast. What we lacked in a football team, we made up for in ocean views and interesting people : ) Still, I arrived at William and Mary in fall 2007, and never looked back.

On campus, I was the Communications Coordinator for a tutoring and mentoring organization for middle school students called Project Phoenix. I was also the former president of Transfer Student Ambassadors, a club which seeks to encourage the successful transition of prospective and admitted transfer students into the William & Mary community. I was one of five Event Planning Spring Interns for the Admission Office.

My hobbies include walks, cooking, naps (can that really be a hobby?), painting, and of course, massive amounts of reality television. I am a proud consumer of what some may call Klosterman’s “low art,” but I like “high art”, too, I swear! My knowledge of the Kardashian family brings something to my reading of Paradise Lost, I believe.

So, I hope you enjoy my blog! I was aiming for it to be both informative and hilarious, and at the very least, not discourage anyone from attending the College. Until next time.

Megan Castle

Megan CastleHi everyone!  My name is Megan Castle and I am from just north of Chicago in a town called Libertyville-it sounds fake, but it’s a real place, I swear! As an English major I spent a great deal of my days reading, but my roommates often distracted me with episodes of How I Met Your Mother and Dawson’s Creek (my ultimate TV guilty pleasure, don’t judge). I transferred to William & Mary in my junior year, but I always got excited when I saw people dressed up in colonial garb. In my free time I was a member of a comedy improvisational troupe called I.T., you might see the group around campus acting like they’re twelve-they’re goofy, but it’s all in good fun!  While I am a natural born klutz, I also spent my free time walking backwards and giving tours: a multi-tasking feat I never mastered gracefully…I love peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches and would eat them every day if I could, I also love coloring and pretty much everything associated with Disney.

Noelle DuVall

Noelle DuVallHi! My name is Noelle DuVall and I am from Reston, Virginia. I was a Neuroscience major and a Chemistry minor, but as a liberal arts school I am proud to say that I took classes in many of the College’s departments. On campus I was a tour guide and an avid member of Rhythm & Taps… and I am proud to add ‘blogger’ to the list. I hope I have given everyone out there an idea, or at least my own personal twist, of what life at the College of William & Mary is really like. William & Mary certainly became my second home, where time flew by and no two days were exactly the same. From heading over to the Recreation Center, volunteering in the local community or taking in the sights in Colonial Williamsburg, the opportunities were endless. The locals, and even professors, who walk their dogs around campus made me miss my puppy at home dearly, whose name “Peanut”, fyi, is the exact thing that I am severely allergic to. Besides the slight yearning for a pet on campus, my time spent at the College was so busy and exciting and I hope that I have shared all of my insights and daily happenings on the blog site! Have a great one!

Maral Noori-Moghaddam

Maral Noori-MoghaddamA Persian from the Middle East, Maral hoped to never graduate. She hails from Stafford, VA where she attended Colonial Forge High School. While majoring in International Relations, Maral also took Arabic classes and studied abroad in Morocco. She spent almost all of her time at her favorite place on campus, the Sadler Center terrace, and was known to most as a “Terracite.” Not only was she a Terracite but also a Flat Hat photographer, a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and a campus Tour Guide. As an Admission Intern, Maral helped to plan Day for Admitted Students, blogging often and making new friends. Most importantly, Maral likes to take lots of photos (280+ albums on Facebook), watch old movies with her friends and take naps with her Chihuahua, Bobak!
