Summertime

Dina McNaughtonSummer is off and going for Tribe gymnastics. Most of our incoming freshmen have just had prom and graduation, so we are all finally in the summer mode. There are a few upperclassmen still in Williamsburg taking summer courses and training. As for the rest of us, we are all at home off in different parts of the country.

Here’s a look into what some of us have been up to this week. Melissa Cream is working a new double front bar dismount, and I’ve been working on handspring layout step out flight series on beam. Molly Walsh is working on Tkatchevs on bars, while Karla Bercaw has been working hard to connect her switch leap to immediate gainer full dismount off beam.

Our up and coming sophomores are all working back from their injuries from the previous season, which is very exciting. Morgan Stevens has been in Pennsylvania coaching and training at Woodward Gymnastics Camp. Cream has been enjoying playing tennis and softball, and we are all working our various summer jobs as well: house cleaning, bar tending, waitressing, and gymnastics coaching. So far the summer has been going well and we are all working hard to have a great season next year. This week was also Molly Walsh’s 19th birthday. Happy Birthday, Molly!
