Meet the Transfer Ambassadors: Sarah

Hi everyone!  My name is Sarah and I’m a senior, double majoring in finance and applied math here at William & Mary. I transferred in the spring of 2014 from a private, out-of-state university and have absolutely loved my experience at W&M! I’ve had so many opportunities that I would’ve never had elsewhere, from meeting and forming connections with so many unique and amazing people, to studying abroad for a semester in Austria (Yes, it’s definitely possible to study abroad as a transfer!) and getting the chance to be involved in so many rewarding activities at W&M. Besides serving as a Transfer Intern in the Admission Office this semester, I am on the Club Soccer and Club Volleyball teams, a member of a business fraternity, and a lifeguard at our Student Rec Center. I’m also involved in a few clubs within the Mason School of Business and work as a Research Assistant to a professor through the Boehly Center for Finance. When I’m not busy with class, practice, research, or work, I love to go for runs through Colonial Williamsburg, hang out on the Sunken Garden, and have themed movie nights with friends!

Deciding to transfer was the scariest and most nerve-wracking decision I have ever made, but also the best one! As a freshman spring transfer, I was definitely nervous about my decision. Was leaving my previous university after only one semester a good idea? Did I want to go through the college application process again? Would I find that “perfect” school for me? After nearly 3 years at W&M, I can’t imagine myself anywhere else! I truly believe that anyone can find their place in the W&M community and be able to call W&M home. I’m so excited to have this chance to help guide others through the sometimes intimidating or confusing transfer process. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you might have!
