Waaall-E

Yes, that title is my pathetic attempt to re-create the adorable way Wall-E says his name in his new movie. The movie and Wall-E himself have completely stolen my heart. Last night the interns accompanied Clay Clemens (a government professor) to Panera for dinner and then to a showing of Wall-E. I think it is safe to say that almost all of us are now in love with Wall-E–the cutest robot known to man. Now you may be asking yourself, the interns went to dinner and a movie with a professor?? It’s true. And we had a great time!

Doing things like this with a professor is not uncommon at William & Mary–whether it is with one of the most beloved

professors on campus (Clay Clemens) or a more recent addition to the campus. I, personally, have been invited to everything from a pumpkin carving event to juice and cookies with my professor’s four-year-old son. Professors at William & Mary are more than just your teachers, they are your friends. I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s true. I can go talk to my advisor about more than just what Biology classes I should sign up for next year, I can talk about life plans and goals or just how nice the weather is. Professors here are accessible 24/7. In fact, almost all of my professors include home phone numbers on the syllabus so that we can contact them if we run into any problems. If you can’t make it to their office hours, but are still in need of help, professors will meet you for coffee or lunch or just a few minutes before/after class. Professors at William & Mary are incredible, and I’m not just saying that. Go get dinner and a movie with one and you’ll see.
