Procrastination is an SAT Word!

Yes! I just named all the countries of Europe! So I learned something new here at the Earl Gregg Swem Library today while studying for exams. It is really easy to get carried away if you have a laptop on you. Man, I have 23 pages to write, (13 of which I got done today thank you) but I still got 10 more pages to go.

But hey, anything that’s not work is good, even if it is a blog post at 1 a.m. in the morning. Wow…it’s one in the morning…

*Sigh*

Well, while I’m slacking off and holding off on the studying, might as well tell you what I’ve learned today. Here’s good ol’ Isshin’s simple list of things to do if you’re ever in Swem and you just need that simple study break:

  1. Take a walk: the library is HUGE! It’s three floors and tons and tons of square feet filled with books from every part of the world. The other day, I came upon the Encyclopedia Japonica. Yup…you’re right, not Britannica, Japonica. It was an entire encyclopedia collection written in Japanese! I was thoroughly impressed.
  2. Read a newspaper: (Little known fact) Swem Library subscribes to and updates daily The Washington Post, New York Times, Daily Press, Richmond Times-Dispatch and The Virginian-Pilot. Go read up on news in your hometown! It’s really sometimes interesting what I learn from just glancing at headlines in the local newspaper.
  3. Sporcle.com: Parents, I’m sorry for showing your sons and daughters this, because now, they are about to waste many many hours not studying and trying to name all 151 original Pokemon, or all the sports teams in the NFL, or the countries of the world. (I can now name all the countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.)
  4. WaWa run: probably the most relaxing, and most delicious way to spend a little time off of work is by traveling to the nearby WaWa and getting a bite to eat. If you decide to do this, I highly recommend their Salsa Chicken Flatbread sandwiches…they’re to die for!
  5. Facebook: I hate to say it, but facebook.com has got to be the most visited site of students that are just simply bored of studying in Swem. I’m guilty of it myself, I think I’ve spent a grand total of about 3 hours on facebook today….
  6. Hanging out in the Children’ Section: Comfy couches, dozens of I Spy books, what more could you ask for?

So now that I have effectively wasted more and more time than I care to, guess I should get back to that paper of mine. But if you ever get bored of work, there’s nothing wrong with a 10 minute break. In fact, Dr. Teshima prescribes it. And if those 10 minutes turn into 30…well, heck, you could always just work three times as hard! That’s what I’m going to do right now anyways.  ^^
