In which I get locked out

What a great way to start off spring break! Yes, yes?

No!

Today’s the Saturday before spring break. I’m leaving for a service trip tomorrow morning, so I’m staying in the dorm until then.

So, I’m in my room packing for the trip, when I have this huge sneeze attack, so I go to the bathroom to blow my nose and wash my hands, and then I head back to my room, but the door is locked!

I’m freaking out because it’s spring break–no one’s around!!! I’m not even sure if the RAs, i.e. the people who could get me into my room, are around. And I’m not wearing much: a girl scout teeshirt and soffe shorts. It’s cold outside!

I think, I have two options: try to break into my room (it’s a sturdy door) or run around outside and yell for help. I decide that running around outside is the more sensible option! So I’m running around like a crazy person, thinking, maybe I should go to the police station, no, they can’t do anything about dorms, and I end up at the library, which is closed in an hour.

I’m grateful when I see Adam, who rescues me and brings me to the duty office where we call the RAs who might still be around, but none of them are there. Adam swipes me into my dorm and assures me that the RA will be there at 7, so I just have to sit there until 7.

Fortunately, I have food in the fridge, so I cook myself some peanut noodles with broccoli, and then watch iron chef and what not to wear for a while.

Whatever, at least I wasn’t naked. And, I am now back in my room! My darling, beautiful room. I’ve never appreciated it so much. Man, I had such plans too. By which I mean writing grant proposals and papers…haha.

It’s so depressing when people aren’t on campus. Never stay on campus when no one’s around and you have the option of leaving! I can’t wait to see people tomorrow. And teach disabled people how to plant vegetable gardens! Yay. 🙂
