Not Your Average Class

I bet you would be amazed to know that rappelling down the side of the parking garage and soaring over Lake Matoaka on a zip line actually appears on the syllabus of one of the classes at William and Mary!  The class is called Adventure Games and it actually is a real academic course for credit and probably the class I am most excited about in my final semester.  We had our first meeting this past Wednesday and got a brief glimpse of all of the activities we will get to try out throughout the next few months.  It seems to start off easy with tag games and low level activities but it promises to quickly pick up the pace.  We ventured out of the classroom last class to walk out to the ropes course and take a look at what we were getting into…needless to say I’m more than a little nervous.  Some of the activities require balancing on six inch wide beams many many feet in the air!  But as our professor began to explain, the class is about so much more than getting to play around outside and get credit for it.  Its really about pushing yourself beyond your established comfort zones in order to gain completely different experiences.  So if you needed it, there is even more proof that William and Mary does so much more than fill you head with information from text books.
