Bump, Set, Spike…

Ok, so I’ve found a new obsession: afternoon volleyball games at the various sand courts around campus!  Along with some other interns and friends on campus for the summer, I have started playing volleyball during free time in the evenings and afternoons.  It’s crazy addictive!  I won’t lie however, as a whole, none of us are very good.  This adds to the fun though, because no one has to feel mortified by their lack of volleyball talent.

Right now I’m working on mastering the overhand serve.  It’s coming along but I have to admit, that I’m feeling ridiculously sore from all the practice.  The other challenges include moving quickly in all that sand and being able to tolerate the hot sun.  You usually end up feeling exhausted and completely gross but inevitably looking forward to the next time you can play.

I can’t resist bragging a little bit about my team and our performance when we played yesterday.  We dominated all three games!  I have to give most of the credit to my teammates who were amazing.  As a whole group, the interns and our friends on campus are planning on trying to put together games after work at least once a week.  Hopefully by the end of the summer all our skills will be improved and we’ll rock the courts in IM volleyball next semester!
