And So It Begins:

You can always tell when the semester is getting ready to start because inevitably your email inbox starts seeing a lot more traffic.  As the school year is getting ready to start, I’ve started getting a lot more messages about beginning of the term group meetings, first events for incoming freshman, reminders about classes, and of course the harsh reality that I soon will need to go and drop a bunch of money on textbooks.  While all these reminders can at first seem overwhelming, it quickly gets exciting as I realize I’m completely ready to get back into the swing of things and thrilled for the semester to begin again.  I love when the campus refills with all the students and there never seems to be a dull moment.  Getting use to classes, school work, and balancing various group meetings and events can get hectic but I honestly love the busyness!

One of the best parts of the beginning of the school year is the annual Activities Fair.  This is a huge event in William and Mary Hall where representatives from hundreds of clubs, organizations, and campus groups set up tables with information about what they do on campus.  It’s the perfect way to get information, sign up for something new, meet current members, and add your name list serves so that you can get more information about the group’s activities and meetings.  For the new students to campus, it’s the perfect way to get involved right away – maybe continuing an activity they did in high school or signing up to do something completely new and different.  One of the great things about William and Mary students is not only how involved we all get, but the large variety of activities each person does.  It really reflects the open-mind and adventerous personalities of all the students at this College.  So it’s no surprise that schedules fill up quickly, but who doesn’t love a busy routine!!
