About Lisa Risely

I’m a Superstar!

Hola, my name is Lisa Risely. I earned a M.Ed. in May 2012 at the College of William and Mary’s School of Education. My program specialty was Marriage and Family Counseling. I graduated from W&M undergrad May 2010 with high honors in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy. I also graduated with Associate’s Degrees from two other colleges before William and Mary: Tidewater Community College of Norfolk, VA, and Crafton Hills College of Yucaipa, CA. I was born and raised in Southern California and I represent my home pride every day through a beautiful tattoo on my back. I worked at the Sadler Center Information Desk and the Games Desk, and I was a graduate assistant for T/TAC in the School of Education. Some say I am a master of disguise because I “look different” in every dashing style of mine. My favorite color is green. I am mostly Irish, German and Cherokee Indian. I am a Rock Star, greatly touched by the ’80s (Journey and Bon Jovi are my faves). I love football (Go Chargers!), pool, cars, dancing, karaoke, Rock Band, super mario bros., and pretty much anything and everything fun. I enjoy observing, not studying, the beauty of nature (i.e., stars, sunsets, beaches, waterfalls). I am an open-minded individual with strong ambitions, beliefs and values. I love to actively engage in my favorite activities, but when making new friends I am not too picky because hey, I am the party!

Interesting facts about me:

- I graduated High School Valedictorian at 16 years old.

- I am a frequent flyer, but have not traveled abroad. My dream place to go is Athens, Greece.

- My name is freakishly similar, but unrelated to Lisa Marie Presley.

- I was one of the trainers involved in breaking the Guinness “Thriller” record. Yes, I am a huge Michael Jackson fan.

- I own all the seasons of House M.D. and the theme song is like my lullaby. I became a fan of the show House because I was told that I looked like Cameron, just prettier of course.

- I have a new baby brother that was born February 2010!

- I met my amazing boyfriend on Valentine’s Day during our senior year at W&M and was ecstatic to cross the Crim Dell bridge with him at graduation (according to W&M legend we are meant for each other).

And to save the best for last, I am a Christian and live every day by the grace of God. Isaiah 40:31, “For they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” This bible verse has followed me throughout my life and the horrific trials that I have faced. Walking by faith, I strive to use my life experiences to bless and help others through a career in Counseling.

Final Note: Make every day count. Strive to be the best person you can be and make it happen! Be honest and genuine. And remember: Actions speak louder than words! God bless you!
