Walkin’ Around

When the weather is nice, my favorite thing to do is to grab a friend and explore Colonial Williamsburg!  We usually walk to Aromas first: one of the greatest coffee shops you will ever experience.  We grab some tea and cocoa and are on our way.  The Colonial scene never ceases to entertain me!  With costumed people, animals, and little kids running around, what’s not to love?  What’s best is when the fife band plays-boy, that can take you back…The historic buildings, horse drawn carriages, and haunted houses never seem to get too old!  My friend Julia and I have a favorite tree that we like to climb.  Mostly we like it because we’re both really short and it’s one of the few we are able to climb into.  We finish up our drinks there.

Breaking with the Colonial Era, we usually take a trip through the Peanut Shop and grab a few free samples.  Somehow the store owners never seem to catch on that we never buy anything there.  It’s delicious!  Then we cross the street to Retros and get some cheese fries and limeade-yum!  The 50’s style restaurant is really adorable!  Then Julia and I like to head over to The Mermaid Bookstore.   It is an independently owned book shop that is decorated with mermaid gear and cartoons-it’s hilarious!  Grabbing used copies of dated cookbooks is one of our favorite pastimes!
