Best-Kept Secret on Campus: Snow Edition

For those who do not know, it has been snowing in Williamsburg on and off for the past two weeks! I would consider snow pretty rare for the ‘Burg, as we usually predict flurries throughout the winter season, but just this past week campus was covered by over five inches of perfect, snowman-building snow.

Fun fact: Blue Talon, a local restaurant found in Colonial Williamsburg, hands out 100 free cups of hot chocolate at the beginning of every snowfall. Yes, free. I even have friends who loiter in Colonial Williamsburg, waiting for the snow to start falling an hour before actually getting in line to grab their cup. You might even spot colonial actors, all dressed up in costume, as you watch for snow! If you are looking for some of the richest hot chocolate in the greater Williamsburg area, Blue Talon is the place for you!

If you miss the rush for Blue Talon hot chocolate (like me, whoops!) there are a few other restaurants that can keep you warm when the weather gets cold. Aroma’s (located both in Colonial Williamsburg but also in our very own campus library) offers great themed drinks for the winter season. Cinnamon or mint hot chocolate, anyone?

The Grind, another cozy place to study on a snowy day, is right in the middle of campus. This alternative coffee shop offers an array of warm drinks with great homemade scones, croissants, grilled cheese, and pastries. The Grind also has a massive fireplace that keeps you warm, all while you enjoy your snow day sipping on hot chocolate.

Stay warm and Go Tribe!
