A Dynamic Staff

Today we interviewed a candidate for an assistant dean position in our office.  It was the first interview we have done for a new dean staff member in three years.  The candidate mentioned that the notion of a dynamic team inspired her to apply for the position.  She went on to say that she felt dynamic invoked images of a lively, fun, innovative group of colleagues.  I think often prospective students and their families have a mental image of admission officers as stodgy old white men who sit around a table smoking cigars, reminiscing about the good old days, and make harsh decisions about applicants.  Yet our staff sits around the committee table actively engaged in building a class.  We debate, we converse, we laugh.  We are lively, fun, and innovative.  Admission officers are not necessarily old nor are they dull and lifeless.  My colleagues and I are dynamic.
