And the season begins

Kristin MilardoIt is hard to believe that season has already begun! I cannot believe that my Junior year season is underway. Last Sunday we opened up our 2011 campaign at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational at George Washington University. I had truly missed the competitive atmosphere and the feeling that comes along with it. Nothing can prepare you for or compare to the excitement, the lights, the crowd, and the fun that comes along with competing collegiate gymnastics. I was so proud of the performances everyone put on at our very first meet; we made an excellent showing, finishing fifth of the seven teams and posting our highest team score ever at the Invite! We also posted the highest team score on Floor out of all seven teams…way to go Floor!

It was also so exciting to see five of my friends/teammates compete for their first time at the collegiate level. I loved watching the debuts of Molly, Jess, Katie, Allie, and Lacy at this meet and I am so proud of them! Our team had a blast at the competition as well as on our bus ride home. It was also so awesome to receive the support of our alumni in the stands at the meet.

With the weekend following our first meet at GW off, we worked hard in the gym this week continuing to perfect our routines. We are all so excited for our first home meet this coming weekend against UNC and for the rest of the season! Come see us this Sunday at Kaplan Area at 2pm. GO TRIBE!!
