Final Thoughts from Mary Kate

Though I have two more years at W&M, it is hard not to become sentimental and reflective as the school year ends. A little over a year ago, I received my acceptance letter from William & Mary. While many transfer students had been waiting for this moment all along, I was still unsure if I even wanted to transfer. I changed my mind probably five times a day before thinking to myself, “How could I stay knowing I let the opportunity to go to William & Mary pass me by?” I accepted my offer of admission and showed up to Williamsburg anxious and hopeful. Now I realize that my first year here was one of the most challenging, successful, and rewarding years ever. W&M was as welcoming as I had been promised, and as a transfer intern I was able to see this more clearly. Transfer interns, Tribe Ambassadors, Orientation Aides, Peer Advisors, and more work to help the newest members of the Tribe. While the decision to transfer can be overwhelming, know that everyone here is rooting for you and excited to welcome you to your new home. Transferring to William & Mary was one of the best decisions I made, and I can’t wait for the new transfers to feel the same. Have a great summer, and see you in the fall!
