A New Kind of Waiting

You’re a champion at waiting. You waited an eternity for college decisions in high school, you excitedly waited for college to begin, and you waited with unsure nerves for the graded return of those essays you spent too many nights working on. Needless to say, your patience has been tested. Yet, the waiting period after sending in a transfer application is a whole different ball game. While the turnaround time for transfer decisions is relatively quick, the wait can be tough.  Make sure to keep yourself busy while still looking into your options.

During this waiting game, it can be helpful to look more closely at a school’s website, blog posts, and other available information. Are you interested in any of their clubs or activities? Do you know what you want to study? If possible, you could plan another campus visit and even try to meet with a professor or two. Reach out to any current students you know to get a sense of campus life.

Most importantly, try not to stress over the impending decision. Continue to enjoy yourself at your current school—it may be your last semester there, or you may even decide to stay. If you really need some distractions, I recommend Imagine Dragons’ new album, any book by Khaled Hosseini, or House of Cards marathons. Before you know it, you will suddenly have one exciting unread message in your inbox that will inevitably change your life.
