My Perfect Saturday

Here we are just two weeks after my snow blog, basking in the 70 degree weather on campus. The umbrellas are back up on the terrace which means only one thing: it is (finally) spring time in the ‘burg! Which brings me to the next topic: my perfect Saturday at W&M. While the hustle and bustle of classes and activities result in busy weeks, sunny Saturdays are the perfect time to sit back and relax here at W&M.

To start of my perfect Saturday, I would corral some of my friends to dine at one the the many Williamsburg pancake houses. Last Fall Break my friends and I created a “Tour de Pancakes: Williamsburg Edition” and have been trying to eat at everyone at least once before graduation. Don’t get me wrong, this will be a big accomplishment because we have at least 15 pancake houses and a limited, college budget. Also, once you find your go-to pancake house, it is very hard to eat anywhere else. I am currently obsessed with the corn cakes at Five Forks, a small dinner about 10 minutes from campus.

Since it is spring, after breakfast I would pack a few towels and snacks in my car and head to Jamestown Beach after breakfast. Jamestown Beach, also about 10 minutes from campus is the perfect place to soak up the sun during the springtime in Williamsburg. If you go on a Friday afternoon or Saturday, you are bound to see fellow W&M students tossing a frisbee around or napping in the sand. While Virginia Beach is only 45 minutes away, Jamestown beach is all the beach with a fraction of the distance.

To round out my Saturday, I would make my way back on campus, pick up sandwiches from The Cheese Shop, a restaurant in Colonial Williamsburg and have a picnic in the Sunken Garden with my friends. Ideally, AMP would be hosting a “Screen on the Green” Saturday evening so I could grab a blanket, eat my sandwich and enjoy a new motion picture under the stars!
