Poetic Justice

“EXTRA EXTRA read all about it!!!!”

If you are an undercover poet like myself… undercover means someone who writes every once in a while when you have a little spare time (spare time doesn’t come often at WM), someone who is extremely expressive through words, or someone who takes poetry classes for fun not just for the General Education Requirement, I just wanted to let you know about the campus avenues you can use to get your poems, short stories, and memoirs out there!

Poetry

1.    Submit to Jump Magazine: this magazine takes an eclectic variety of poetry and short stories. Check out their previous submissions to see if your pieces may fit into that venue.

Poetry

2.    Submit to Winged Nation which is a publication on campus. The magazine is very professional and is definitely worth your time.

3.    Submit to Lips Magazine. In order to submit you need to be extremely comfortable with sexuality and letting others know about it.  You can submit anonymously if you are partially comfortable!

Poetry

4.    The International Performance Arts Exchange (IPAX) has an open mic night every semester where students can perform poems and skits for the campus.

Poetry

5.    AROMAS, in Colonial Williamsburg, has open mic nights too so go EXPRESS YOURSELF!
