Senior Interviewers Present: Williamsburg FOOD!

Hello Admit It! readers! Jon and Erin here again. As William & Mary students, we have had plenty of opportunities to try out and explore different eateries on and around campus. Here are our thoughts on just a few of our favorites!

The Daily Grind

Daily Grind 1At the heart of William & Mary’s campus, the Daily Grind is housed within one of the school’s old lodges and offers a relaxed vibe, perfect for hitting the books or grabbing a delicious bite to eat in between classes. While not a part of the meal plan, the Grind is certainly a favorite staple among students for “on-campus” dining. From avocado toast to quinoa bowls, there is something for everyone on this menu!

Jon and Erin’s Menu Pick: Berry Smoothie and Chicken Pesto Sandwich

The Cheese Shop

Cheese Shop 1One of the most popular post-tour lunch recommendations, The Cheese Shop sits right on the border between Merchant’s Square and Colonial Williamsburg, but its food is anything but dated. Locally owned and operated, The Cheese Shop has a wide selection of delicious gourmet sandwiches and cheeses for visitors to try out and enjoy. The store is always buzzing with activity because of its popularity, and it definitely lives up to the hype! Plus, their House Dressing is a great addition to any sandwich!

Jon and Erin’s Menu Pick: Chicken Salad (with House Dressing of course!)

Aromas

Aromas 1Just a short walk from the Admission Office, over on Prince George Street, this local coffee shop is a favorite of both students and visitors to campus. It is a great spot to grab a coffee, get a quick bite to eat with a great selection of soups, salads, and wraps, and relax a bit before a tour or interview. Students love the calming atmosphere and chill vibe the coffee shop offers. It is a great staple of the community, widely used by those outside of W&M as well. One fun event housed here are weekly open-mic nights every Thursday — if you’ll be in town then, definitely feel welcome to stop by!

Jon and Erin’s Menu Pick: Turkey Focaccia Sandwich or the Southwest Chicken Wrap

Emily’s Donuts and Cafe

Emily's Donuts 1Emily’s is a gem that we have recently discovered over this summer, as the Deans in the office are super awesome and always bring in donuts to celebrate special events! From glazed to sprinkled and everything in between, no treat that we’ve had these past few weeks has been anything short of sugary goodness. Plus, they will also do custom orders, which is how we got these festive Tribe Pride donuts! Its a short drive from campus and definitely worth the trip!

Jon and Erin’s Menu Pick: The Tribe Donuts of course!

Kilwins

Kilwins 1After a hot tour, nothing beats the heat like grabbing some ice cream and taking a stroll through Colonial Williamsburg! Kilwins has a great selection of fun and creamy ice cream flavors and offers a student discount to W&M students with their IDs! Ice cream not your jam? Along with friendly customer service, Kilwins also has fudge, chocolates, and a whole host of other sweet treats for your consumption!

Jon and Erin’s Menu Pick: Kilwin’s Mud Ice Cream in a waffle cone

Next time you find yourself on campus, definitely try out any of these options and let us know what you think!
